A widowed captain, Captain Andreas, learns that the scheduled departure of his ship has been canceled. At the same time, the crew discovers Marina hidden in the ship’s refrigerator. Her kindness and warm character win him over, and he decides to take her home to Poros, where he lives with his sister Vasiliki and his two nephews.

Marina’s unexpected presence creates tension and provokes schemes from his sister, which escalate when the captain sets sail again. When his ship sinks and he is presumed missing, his sister hastily declares him dead, evicts Marina, and conspires with her lawyer to claim his inheritance.

However, the captain soon returns safe and sound but does not reveal himself to his sister. Instead, he marries Marina and brings her to his home, where he appears as a "Fantis Bastounis" (the ace of clubs), restoring order and justice.
