Series about the Greek music tradition.
The aim is to record and promote to the audience the richness, variety, and expressiveness of our musical heritage, through the local musical idioms as well as its modern potential in the urban environment of the big city.
Today:
"Variations in the Musical Maps of Hellenism"
The show "Salt of the Earth" and Lambros Liavas invite us to an enchanting musical journey in various regions of Hellenism, starting with songs that we encounter as "variations". In other words, they feature common subjects and poetic content but use different melodies depending on the musical and dance idioms of each region. These songs, therefore, help confirm the unity of Greek musical tradition through its differences.
In the show, through a representative series of "variations" of songs and dances, we will explore the Musical Maps of Hellenism: Peloponnese, Roumeli, Epirus, Macedonia, Eastern and Northern Thrace, Chios, Lesvos, Constantinople, Cappadocia, Cyprus and the Ionian. The "Thodoris Georgopoulos Orchestra" is our guide: Thodoris Georgopoulos (clarinet-flute), Michalis Zampas (song-lute), Panagiotis Xydeas (violin) and Thanasis Kakos (percussion).
