Based on the eponymous novel by John Preston from 2016. It is a dramatized television adaptation of the Jeremy Thorpe Scandal. With the focus on the forbidden, at that time, homosexual relationship between the liberal Member of Parliament and later leader of the Liberal Party Jeremy Thorpe and the stable hand Norman Scott. The case reaches its climax in 1979, with Jeremy standing trial for conspiracy and incitement to murder, for the attempt against Norman in an effort to rid him from his life as part of his ambition to become Prime Minister of the United Kingdom at any cost.

As Thorpe gets closer and closer to his goal of becoming Prime Minister, Scott demands that he keep the promises he had made to him. As Thorpe's past relationship with Scott poses a serious threat to his political career, how far will Thorpe go to silence Scott?
