'Balkan Express' is a series that marks its second decade on the ERT television program. It's a continuous journey through the Balkans, aiming to reconnect the Greek audience with a region of our geography that holds significant importance for our history, culture, economy, and future. The Balkans stand as the Bible of European civilization, a workshop shaping history, a geostrategic crossroads, and a space fostering Greek outwardness.

'Balkan Express' forges a bond with a neighborhood where we are called to coexist within a European framework and collectively manage vital issues. It's an enthralling experience in an unexplored part of Europe, rich in unique natural diversity, gastronomy, music, folk culture, modern life, and innovative spirit, offering much to the present day.

In this episode, we travel to the largest fjord in the Mediterranean, the Bay of Kotor, which is located in one of the smallest countries in the Balkans, Montenegro. We start from the medieval town of Kotor with its fortified walls and its lazy cats, which is also the favorite destination for cruise ships. We attend a celebration of the Kotor Navy as well as events that revive the old urban life of the town. We learn about the local cuisine before we sail to the artificial islet where the "Virgin Mary of the Rocks" is located. We continue to Perast, the city of Baroque mansions and shipowners, and then to Risan, where, on the floor of an ancient Roman villa, we discover the mosaic of the god of Sleep. We continue to Tivat, where we are initiated into its maritime culture. Our next stop is cosmopolitan Budva, the most popular destination in Montenegro, which is bustling with tourist traffic and nightlife. We visit the hotel where the James Bond film, "Casino Royal" was shot, and we get a taste of the secular life of Montenegrin Riviera. We end the trip at the islet of Mamoula, where an old Habsburg fortress and later on prison, was turned into a luxury tourist resort, thus having a second life, like die-hard Montenegro itself.
