Episode 4
The Era of Images presents the first major exhibition "Statecraft-Shaping the State" under the curation of the new artistic director of the Greek National Museum of Contemporary Art Katerina Gregos. With the participation of 39 artists, many of whom are exhibiting for the first time in Greece, Statecraft turns its gaze beyond the traditional forms of the nation-state, towards alternative models of state and political constitution, in relation to the current challenges of mass migration, the realities of post-national and inter-national organizational structures, globalization and contemporary technological nomadism. Katerina Zacharopoulou meets Katerina Gregos at the exhibition and they talk about the most characteristic works around issues and concepts such as the Nation-State, the acquisition of citizenship, the symbolism of the national flag, alternative currencies and economies, the ways in which artists approach issues of national identities and xenophobia. The artists talk in detail about their works: Maria Varela, Vangelis Vlahos, Giorgos Gyzis, Alexis Fidetzis, Eirini Vourloumis.
