It all starts in the 1830s when young George Stephenson engineered the first locomotive, and the first railway networks followed up before long. The railway becomes a key factor in the development of both the trade and the military power of countries, offering the possibility of rapid transportation of troops and munitions. Thus, railways spread out rapidly in Europe and soon enough reach our country as well.

Having two trains as our guides on this journey, a freight train and a passenger train, we visit the most important stations and points of interest of the route.
