'Patision Avenue' by Thanasis Neofotistos won 3 Awards at the 41st Clermont-Ferrand Festival!

At the 41st Clermont-Ferrand, the largest short film festival, the film 'Patision Avenue' by Thanasis Neofotistos received 3 awards: the Canal+ Award (Prix Canal+), the Special Jury Prize (Prix Special du jury International), and a nomination for the European Film Awards. The film also garnered excellent reviews from the audience and made a strong impression.

It's worth noting that in 2019, there were 9,238 film submissions to the festival, with only 78 selected entries. Amidst this strong competition, the recognition becomes even more significant.

'Patision Avenue,' a demanding single-shot film by Thanasis Neofotistos shot in the heart of Athens and featuring a woman facing life's major dilemmas, continues its successful journey. After its world premiere at the 75th Venice Mostra and already with 18 competitive selections at international festivals and 5 major awards, it continues to shine.

The film's next stop is in the competition section of the prestigious short film festival, Tampere (49th Tampere IFF), and the Dresden International Film Festival (31st Dresden IFF).

As Giannis' mother heads to an audition for the role of Viola from Shakespeare's play, she discovers that her son has been left home alone. Walking along Patision Avenue, one of the most contradictory areas in central Athens, she struggles to balance all her life roles through her mobile phone.

The Director adds: 'This film is my attempt to understand my mother, a being of remarkable sensitivity, whom I remember maneuvering between her feminine nature, stereotypes about women, and her true desires. What I can see now is that she fought hard battles, winning some and losing others.'

The lead role is played by Marina Symeou, and the film is a production by Argonauts Productions, with Ioanna Bolomyti as the producer."
