Recorded broadcast of the Concert – Tribute to the 85 years of Mikis Theodorakis, which took place on July 29, 2010, at the Lycabettus Theater.
On July 29, Mikis Theodorakis completed eighty-five years of life. He was born on July 29, 1925, in Chios, to a Cretan father and a mother from Smyrna.
To honor this major anniversary celebration, his most important collaborators, both older and newer — singers, composers, and actors, Greek and foreign — along with several other great artists, joined forces and presented a concert as a birthday gift to the great Greek creator.
Beloved songs, adored songs, from the magnificent and inexhaustible reservoir of his precious and immeasurable contribution, filled with memories and emotion, lit up like candles on a birthday cake — to remind us of the great journey of the composer, the political figure, the thinker, the man: Mikis Theodorakis.
