Sonny Koufax is a 32-year-old law school graduate living off a meager lawsuit settlement and lacking serious motivation for a career. His ideal life consists of lounging around, watching sports on TV, and ordering takeout from his favorite delivery guy. The only problem is that his girlfriend, Vanessa, is ready to dump him like a bad habit. In a desperate attempt to impress Vanessa, he adopts five-year-old Julian, pretending to be the boy's biological father. Faced with the challenges of sleep deprivation, nighttime wetting, and entertaining a 5-year-old, Sonny takes a hilariously unconventional approach to fatherhood. But when social services threaten to take away the son he has come to love, Sonny surprises everyone by stepping up to the responsibilities he had long avoided.
