The aim is to record and promote to the audience the richness, variety, and expressiveness of our musical heritage, through the local musical idioms as well as its modern potential in the urban environment of the big city.

Originating from Galatini in Kozani, Dimitris Kotsikas is one of the prominent virtuosos of the folk clarinet and simultaneously a teacher and researcher of Greek traditional music, with a dynamic presence in Greece and abroad.

Together with his band, he offers us a captivating musical journey through Macedonia, Thessaly, Epirus, and Roumeli, starting from his special homeland with the sound of the "brass" instruments. The folk bands with clarinets, cornets, trombones, and drums represent a distinct tradition that thrives in Western and Central Macedonia. With "Balkan" sound colors, they bridge the East with the West, urban elements with rural rituals, and tradition with modernity.

Additionally, Giorgos Kotsikas, a virtuoso of the folk violin with postgraduate studies in Ethnomusicology, takes us on a journey from the Cyclades to Grevena and Epirus, showcasing the differences in style and playing techniques between island and mainland violin.
