Romantic comedy, produced in the USA
The international movie star Tom Cruise plays Jerry Maguire, a successful sports agent who gets fired from a high-demand agency when he develops a moral streak. To his dismay, he discovers that he has also lost most of his clients and his fiancée, NFL journalist Avery Bishop.
With only the least important client from his once full roster, the undersized Rod Tidwell of the Arizona Cardinals, and the only person from his former office who believes in him, the nostalgic single mother Dorothy Boyd, Jerry must start anew and rebuild his life from scratch. Their future hangs by a thread, as his ideals of faith, honesty, and love are tested in the world of professional sports, in the world of "Show Me The Money."
The film is inspired by sports agent Lee Steinberg, who worked as a technical advisor on the film. It received five Oscar nominations, including Best Picture and Best Actor for Cruise, winning Best Supporting Actor for Cuba Gooding Jr.'s performance.
Directed by: Cameron Crowe
