A series of half-hour shows produced by ERT for 2024-2025.

The idea, as the title of the show suggests, aims to present all the links in the production chain of a product, from the stage of seed selection to the final product that will be placed on the retail shelf.

The orientation is to highlight the primary sector and the processing industry, which deals with agricultural and livestock products throughout the Greek territory as much as possible.
The goal of the show is to give the viewer-consumer the opportunity to learn about these products through the personal stories of all those involved in the processes of production, processing, packaging, and marketing.
The impetus for the proposal to implement the show was the realization that the overwhelming majority of us consume a variety of products without knowing how they are produced, what nutritional benefits they offer, and how they are preserved before consumption.

Today: "Rice"
Episode 12

The show visited the region of Chalastra, in western Thessaloniki, where once a year, around early May, a significant part of this fertile plain is deliberately flooded with vast amounts of water to complete the rice planting process. Viewers learn about the timing of plowing, the use of laser leveling for the soil, the rice varieties cultivated in Greece, the methods for retaining water in the fields, the duration of the flooding, and the fertilization and crop protection required before the rice completes its four-month lifecycle.
In the neighboring village of Agios Athanasios, in Thessaloniki, "Farm-Fresh, Straight to Your Shelf" explores the adoption of Precision Agriculture technologies by pioneering farmers of western Thessaloniki. These technologies enable targeted interventions, optimizing production costs, reducing residues in the final product and minimizing environmental pollution.
For the harvesting phase, the show visited Vamvakia, Serres, one of the only three villages still systematically cultivating rice. Here, insights were provided on crop yields, price surges along the journey from field to shelf, and deceptive practices some use to mislead consumers.
Returning to Chalastra, the team explored one of the country's largest rice mills, learning about the standards for receiving and processing the product, the packaging process, and what happens before it reaches the shelf. The segment also included tips on the proper cooking and storage of rice at home.
