Isabel, a career-driven photographer, unexpectedly becomes the reluctant stepmother of her boyfriend Luke's two children, 12-year-old Anna and 7-year-old Ben. Her attempts to earn their love and respect are complicated by Jackie, Luke's ex-wife and the children’s fiercely devoted mother, who resents Isabel’s involvement in their lives. However, when Jackie discovers she has a terminal illness, the two strong-willed women are forced to find a way to connect. They soon realize that their mutual love for the children is a powerful bond. Together, they learn how to set aside their differences and embrace life while they can.
