The family, the entire body of Greek traditional expression, comes as a continuation of the history, to prove that tradition is experiential and music is a living cell that is reborn through listening and rhythm.
Families of traditional musicians, musical families. Fortunately, there are still several! We enter the small, enclosed universe of a musical family, in its natural space, the neighborhood, at the café, and other haunts where its music and dancing activities take place. The family, the music, the contacts, the influences, the transactions, the confessions, and the narratives about the family’s life and action, not only by family members but also by third parties. And finally a small tribute to the beneficial effect on cohesion and psychology, through the ritual of musical get-togethers.

The area of Kars, in today's Georgia, where thousands of Pontic Greeks have emigrated, has always been turbulent and interesting. More specifically, from 1878 until 1918, the area was vibrant with Hellenism. The musical traditions of the Pontic Greeks were enriched by the musical influences of the Russians and the Armenians, in which the traditional zournas and the Angeion give way to an imported open space instrument with many organological merits, the clarinet! Both old and newer songs can be played with ease on the keys of the clarinet and, due to its acceptance by the larger multinational audience, they instantly become popular. Thus, the old traditional musical families which are now based on the clarinet are formed and become points of reference throughout Kars. But even later, following their great persecution to Greece, they become particularly popular. The families of Iakovidis and Aslichanidis are two of the historical musical families mentioned above.
