Biographical music film produced in the USA.
The story of 17-year-old Ritchie Valens, the Mexican-American farmhand whose passion for music transformed him into the inspired creator of the most unlikely musical successes with his star shining in the rock and roll constellation of the 1950s. His obsessive love for his girlfriend Donna, the constant rivalry with his half-brother Bob, as well as his terrifying premonitions of his own death, are masterfully portrayed, until the moment when Valens's bright star set with a... tragic end.
The portrait of Valens's tumultuous life comes alive in the film "La Bamba," where some of his greatest hits - "Come On Let's Go," "La Bamba," "Donna" - are wonderfully performed by the band Los Lobos.
