George Xenidis is a wealthy young man from an aristocratic family who is under the guardianship of his uncle Nikiforos and his aunt Elpida. His prospects for the future are bright. He falls in love with Argiroula, a young orphan who sells flowers to survive. However, the social differences between them make his family disapprove of her as a potential bride.
