"Yannis Bouteas"
Episode 9
Yannis Bouteas was born in Kalamata in 1941. He studied at the Athens School of Fine Arts next to Kostas Grammatopoulos. He continued his studies in Paris, where he resided for about 10 years, creating his first works. For the composition of his works, he uses everyday materials, such as rope, sheet metal, wood, asphalt, etc. He combines those materials with neon lighting. His installations combine the austere and geometrically structured placement of industrial materials with the seemingly random use of flexible or indeterminately shaped objects on which is imprinted the stamp of the artist's intervention. His installations and interventions have been presented in many European cities. In 2007, he presented the large installation "Stratifications – Energy Images XVI" at the Kerameikos Metro Station. He lives and works in Athens. Director: Michalis Lykoudis
