In December 2023, a group of young scientists braved harsh conditions to reach Drakolimni, Tymfi, to study its largely unexplored ecosystem. Their findings were surprising. Meanwhile, another group of young people moved to the nearly abandoned village of Demati in Zagori and established two mountain greenhouses. From there, a whole "movement" to revive the surrounding area took root.

We meet the people who are bringing life back to the Greek mountains and highlight their importance for the natural environment and for all of us. Evangelia, who lives alone in a village of just five inhabitants, Aris, a 30-year-old residing in the highest inhabited village in the Balkans and a couple with the only children in the village of Vitsa—all took the leap and have never looked back.
