A 2009 Greek-French dramatic film, Duration: 110 min
Just like in the Odyssey, it is in the Mediterranean Sea that the adventures of Elias begin, a hero not accompanied by legends. Over the same sea, under the same sun and the same sky where our civilization was born. After many adventures, a stop in paradise and a brief passage through hell, the epic journey of our hero ends magically in Paris. Paris that shines during the restless sleep of every wanderer, in their deepest dreams. "Paradise in the West" aims to reflect the path, the wandering, the story of people — who like us or like our parents before us — cross the earth and defy the oceans and the uniformed, seeking a home. Elias’s story is not that of Odysseus, nor that of Jean Claude, nor mine. But I recognize myself in Elias, this stranger who is not a stranger to me.
