A series of half-hour shows produced by ERT for 2024-2025.

The idea, as the title of the show suggests, aims to present all the links in the production chain of a product, from the stage of seed selection to the final product that will be placed on the retail shelf.

The orientation is to highlight the primary sector and the processing industry, which deals with agricultural and livestock products throughout the Greek territory as much as possible.
The goal of the show is to give the viewer-consumer the opportunity to learn about these products through the personal stories of all those involved in the processes of production, processing, packaging, and marketing.
The impetus for the proposal to implement the show was the realization that the overwhelming majority of us consume a variety of products without knowing how they are produced, what nutritional benefits they offer, and how they are preserved before consumption.

Sericulture, silk, and Soufli have been synonymous for centuries. Historical references to the border town of Evros being linked to silkworm breeding and the art of silk production date back to 1650 AD, as recorded by a Turkish traveler. Over time, sericulture has experienced periods of both prosperity and decline, evolving into a cornerstone of the local economy and society. Its influence extends far beyond the borders of northern Evros, making Soufli a symbol of silk craftsmanship.

The show traveled to the renowned Soufli to meet modern silkworm breeders. We learned about the silkworm’s reproduction process, its ideal living conditions, and the fascinating fact that during its life cycle, it grows up to 10,000 times its original size, feeding exclusively on tender mulberry leaves. We also discovered how it "builds" its cocoon, with the natural fiber forming its "home" stretching up to 2 kilometers in length.

Tracing the journey of silk, we visited local workshops to see how the thread is spun and woven into natural fiber fabrics. We also witnessed the evolution of this process into the art of screen printing, leading to the creation of final products ready for the market.
Greek silk fabrics and accessories, as we learned, enjoy an excellent reputation both domestically and internationally. With a strong focus on Europe, they have found their way into renowned fashion houses, solidifying Soufli’s place in the world of luxury and craftsmanship.
