A sports-travel documentary series capturing life in small villages across Greece with their own stadiums and local football teams. The series delves into the unique history of each team and its deep ties to the village's culture and traditions. It follows footballers into their homes, fields, paddocks, and cafés, capturing their everyday lives authentically and unfiltered, leading up to the much-anticipated match day.
With seven cameras, the series records every aspect of the matches—on the pitch, in the stands, on the benches, and in the locker rooms—using strategically placed microphones. For the first time in a Greek game, a player wears a microphone during the match, offering an unprecedented perspective.
This season, Village United embarks on a journey across Greece. Starting in Asprokklisia, Trikala, against Ajax (not the Dutch team, the local one), the journey continues through Achillio in Magnesia, Spili in Rethymno, Katalonia in Pieria, Kontopouli in Lemnos, Polissitos in Xanthi, Mataragka in Aetolia-Acarnania, Chiliodendro in Kastoria, Kallirachi in Thasos, Zaimi in Karditsa and Griva in Kilkis, making 16 trips in total. The show goes wherever football and love for the village thrive.

There are fewer than 350 permanent residents on Tilos when this serene Dodecanese island isn’t bustling with tourists. Yet in the stillness of the off-season, the Tilos Athletic Club becomes the island’s heartbeat—persisting through every obstacle, geographic and otherwise.

All home games are played exclusively in the mornings, and only on Tuesdays, Thursdays, or Fridays—whenever the ferry from Rhodes docks, carrying the visiting team.

Away games, however, are nothing short of an odyssey. Tilos players rise before dawn to catch the 5 a.m. boat to Rhodes. Depending on the sea’s temperament, the journey lasts between three and a half to four hours. The return trip? The following morning, again at the break of day. This exhausting routine is repeated 14 times each season, as the islanders leave their jobs behind to support the team they love. At the core of the club is the Sakellaris family. Fathers and sons take to the field, while mothers and aunts run the canteen and handle everything behind the scenes.

All the players are island residents—except one. Goalkeeper Michalis Hatzinikolas travels from Rhodes with the visiting team each matchday, driven by a deep connection he’s formed with the island and its people."
