Signals, the television show with Rea Vitali, returns with a new season of 12 episodes.
The show addresses challenging topics that concern contemporary society, encouraging us to "get uncomfortable," reflect, and possibly reconsider what we take for granted.
Chronicler Rea Vitali, with an exploratory mindset and a diverse mix of guests sharing their knowledge and experiences, approaches each theme from multiple angles. She clarifies complex issues and highlights new perspectives. Sometimes looking into the past and at other times focusing on the future, the goal of the show is to provide "food for thought," not necessarily to provide answers, but certainly to stimulate insights and questions.
Today:
"Journey to the Past"
Episode 12
We journey into the lives, habits, and charm of a bygone era—not so distant, yet unfamiliar to younger generations and forgotten by many. A pastry chef, a seamstress and her assistant, a watchmaker with his son, the president of the Hellenic IT Museum, the founder of the Video Games Museum, and a guide at the Benaki Toy Museum are our storytellers, leading us to a time when taste, moments, timekeeping, fun, and play held different meanings.
It was a time when paste referred to a sweet treat, when mothers had their clothes custom-sewn at seamstress shops, and the purchase of a watch symbolized prestige and recognition. Tech enthusiasts tested their skills on a Spectrum or Commodore computer, while boys—and occasionally girls—gathered in video arcades to enjoy themselves. Friends gathered to play the beloved knowledge-based board game Foteinos Pantognostis (The Omniscient One), which embodied the spirit of curiosity and playfulness that defined the era.
