Sunday in a place where history stretches from ancient times to the Greek Revolution of 1821 and beyond. From December 20, 1821, to January 16, 1822, the First National Assembly took place here, marking the return of concepts like democracy, independence, and freedom to Greek soil after many centuries. With the temporary constitution of Greece, a new era began. Kostis reflects on memories and eras at the Castle of Piada, the Museum of the National Assembly, the Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus, the Vothylas Gorge, the Agnountos Monastery, and the Church of Agios Leonidis. He engages with the residents of Nea Epidaurus, discussing their glorious past, present realities, challenges, dreams, and everyday lives. In the square where the First National Assembly took place, under the votive stele designed by the renowned Ernst Ziller, the village’s grand feast serves as a poignant moment to rediscover ancient Piada—modern-day Nea Epidaurus.
