"Islands on the Edge" is a documentary series by ERT3 that portrays the life of a few inhabitants on small outlying islands. Through a cinematic view, the experiences of the people, their stories, the past, the present, and the future of these remote places are captured. "Saria" [With English subtitles]
Episode 5
Saria, an island north of Karapathos.
Scattered with ancient ruins and remnants of old settlements. Now, only wild goats and rare birds of prey inhabit it. Yet, some still visit.
Every year, on July 27th, pilgrims revive the feast of Saint Panteleimon. Mina and Giannis come to open their homes in the now abandoned settlement of Argos.
A place where they spent their childhood years in Saria.
Giannis and Kostas, carpenters and brothers from a large family from Olympus, have their beehives on the island. They travel back and forth with their boat from Diafani, the small harbor of Olympus.
All of them, along with summer tourists, meet on this wild and enchanting island.
