Kostas works in a law firm and plans to travel to a provincial town to accompany Smaro, a young heiress of a large real estate fortune that is about to be sold, to Athens.

The night before the trip, he enjoys himself with a friend and stays up very late, resulting in him not waking up on time.

He arrives at the station only the day after the trip was supposed to take place, while in the meantime, Smaro has come to Athens on her own.

Smaro is searching for an uncle of hers, but after various wanderings and misunderstandings, the two young people end up in Smaro's village, where the villagers think that Kostas is her future husband.

Smaro realizes that she has fallen in love with Kostas, and the feeling is mutual.
