"The Ladies Who Sing"
For New Year's, "Greek Acts" presents the sisters Eleni and Souzana Vougioukli. These "ladies who sing," from Thrace, take us on a musical journey through a variety of traditional songs. They perform in different dialects, from Kastoria Christmas carols to Portuguese fados, Southern Italian tarantellas, American blues, Gypsy, Pontic, and Epirus songs, blending them into a unique sound led by the human voice. Whether singing solo or as a duet, with their angelic voices and subtle theatrical performances, they not only sing but also play piano and guitar.
