On the occasion of the celebrations for CERN's 70th anniversary in Geneva, ERTWorld broadcasts the documentary “70 Years of CERN – The Greek Footprint”, produced and presented by ERT journalist Andriana Paraskevopoulou.
ERT's camera visited the European Organization for Nuclear Research, 100 meters below the Earth's surface, on the border between France and Switzerland, where scientists strive to recreate the conditions of the Big Bang by colliding protons at the speed of light.
Greece's participation is strong, with the president of the CERN Council being Professor Kostas Fountas, and more than 300 Greek scientists, some of whom spoke to ERT, currently working at the European Organization.
In its seventy years, CERN has never stopped exploring. From the invention of the World Wide Web to managing unimaginable amounts of data, CERN continues to be at the forefront of technological innovation, shaping the future of science and communication.
