Series about the Greek music tradition.
The aim is to record and promote to the audience the richness, variety, and expressiveness of our musical heritage, through the local musical idioms as well as its modern potential in the urban environment of the big city.

The show "Salt of the Earth" with Lambros Liavas continues its musical journey in Laconia, inviting us to explore the rich musical and dance traditions of Northern Laconia.

Our starting point is one of the most picturesque villages at the foothills of Mount Parnon, Karyes (Arachova), the homeland of the ancient Caryatids, in a landscape lush with chestnut, walnut, and plane trees.
Our guide is dance researcher and teacher Nikos Bariamis, accompanied by members of the Folklore Group of Laconia, who are dedicated to the documentation, preservation, promotion, and teaching of the region's music and dances with love and respect.

Residents from the villages of Karyes, Varvitsa, Vamvakou, Loggastra, and Soustianoi sing, along with performers Kyriakos Strifas, Paraskevas Kolantzianos, Spyros Tsolakis, Panos Ardamis, and Dimitris Karahalios.

The musicians participating are: Dimos Koutris (flute), Panagiotis Angelakos (clarinet), Ilias Maragos (drum), Vasilis Vilos (clarinet),
Thanos Karanasios (violin), Christos Lykourentzos (drum) and the musical ensemble "ΠΕΝΤΑΗΧΟΝ": Haris Lygos (violin), Panos Skouteris (clarinet/vocals),
Angeliki Pardali (santur/vocals), Panagiotis Stathakis (lute), Kostas Karamesios (drum).

Members of the Folklore Group of Laconia (coordinated by Angeliki Kokkinis and Despina Georgakarakou), along with a group from Vamvakou (coordinated by Stamatina Galata), sing and dance.

The presentation also features the local men’s and women’s traditional costumes, curated by Angelos Theodosiou and Nikos Sotiriou.
