A series of half-hour shows produced by ERT for 2024-2025.

The idea, as the title of the show suggests, aims to present all the links in the production chain of a product, from the stage of seed selection to the final product that will be placed on the retail shelf.

The orientation is to highlight the primary sector and the processing industry, which deals with agricultural and livestock products throughout the Greek territory as much as possible.
The goal of the show is to give the viewer-consumer the opportunity to learn about these products through the personal stories of all those involved in the processes of production, processing, packaging, and marketing.
The impetus for the proposal to implement the show was the realization that the overwhelming majority of us consume a variety of products without knowing how they are produced, what nutritional benefits they offer, and how they are preserved before consumption.

Today: "Truffles"
Episode 4

Truffles, whether fresh or dried, in carpaccio-like peels or pâté, are a flavorful seasoning used in cooking. They enhance flavors, adding a touch of luxury to any dish.
In Greece, the elongated fungus, which might be thought of as playing hide-and-seek, matures in the earth's guts in a harmonious symbiosis with a number of different forest species of domestic flora. It occurs both in wild form and in intensive crops.
Nikos, Moka, and their trained truffle dog joined us for the show "Farm Fresh, Straight To Your Table", which took us through the mountains and valleys near Lake Prespa in search of the famous fungus. We also learned about the different types of wild truffles found in Greece, where they grow, and how to find them. We also learned how to train a dog to become a truffle-hunting dog.
In Grevena, Giorgos, who knows everything there is to know about mushrooms, gave us the lowdown on truffles—what they are, the difference between black and white, where we can find them. Also, at what prices they are sold and which ones go to auction, and helped us to clarify what is the case with the truffle oil and its composition.
We also stopped by a truffle plantation in the area with Silia. We learned a lot about truffles there, including what is true about growing the fungus, where the inoculated trees come from, how long it takes to start fruiting and whether it is worth the investment.
We learned about the standardization of truffles and discovered a cottage industry in Veria. We learned how the valuable fungi are received by gatherers or cultivators, how they are processed and standardized, and how we should treat them at home after we buy them.
