Travelogue from every corner of Greece with Kostis Zafeirakis.
Today:
«Apeiranthos, Naxos»
”Sunday at the Village Again”, and this time the show arrives in mountainous Naxos in a special place with a special name: Apeiranthos or Aperathou. A picturesque village that hosts five museums and one library, combines the Cycladic with the Venetian aesthetics and has its own vernacular that is not at all easy to learn, as Kostis found out in practice. The locals teach him how to make “kotsakia” (recitatives), as the local rhyming couplets are called, while the weavers show him their traditional technique in the “krevataria” (loom). The oldest muleteer of the village tells him stories from the time, when everything was different. Back when most of them worked in emery mines and prided themselves on the first Greek air transport railway at the small port of Moutsouna. Energetic, hospitable, definitely passionate, the Aperathians live in a rich place and do not like to fit in stereotypes.
