Travelogue from every corner of Greece with Kostis Zafeirakis.

Today: «Lithotopos, Serres »
Episode 9

Sunday at Lithotopos of Serres. The celebration begins with dances and songs. Kostis talks with the residents and we learn about the local history, which is a blend of Pontic Greeks, Thracians, locals, and Vlachs. In Kerkini, the serenity and beauty of this wetland are about to earn the absolute respect of locals and foreigners. Kostis throws his fishing nets with Panagiotis and they chat about the glorious years of the lake that has nourished thousands of people. Tryfonas and Savvas, buffalo-farmers, tell us about the hard work compensated by the serenity of watching buffaloes cool themselves in the waters. The football team of Lithotopos, “Doxa”, is the one and only! Leonidas publishes the local magazine "Our Lithotopos". In Theano's house, in her garden, Kostis converses with the local “Amazons” as they prepare a traditional recipe, black sprouts with beans. In his patisserie, Giannis makes kazan dipi, flips it upside down (Toumba) and transforms it in a “black and white sweet for PAOK fans”! With a traditional Pontian song "Ego tinan egapana" (I loved her), we bid farewell to the beautiful Lithotopos.
