If television established the magic box as the heart of the Greek family, then video surely became the lifeblood in its veins. In the early 1980s, the advent of VHS countered the conservative policy of a television reality dominated by two channels with limited programming. It offered freedom in viewing hours, variety in film choices, and the emergence of new cinematic genres — in other words, it marked the beginning of what we now understand as home entertainment.
The success of this new medium was swift and exceeded all expectations.
