"Islands on the Edge" is a documentary series that portrays the life of a few inhabitants on small outlying islands.

Through a cinematic view, the experiences of the people, their stories, the past, the present and the future of these remote places are captured. Each episode is a journey, a collection of images, faces and moments of everyday life. An attempt to understand a different world, a small isolated land surrounded by sea.

On the sea route between Kythira and Crete, there is a magical island. Antikythira. During the winter, it has a total of 17 residents. Myronas’ café is the centre of the community. Every Sunday after church you can find nearly everyone there for coffee and small-talk. For years, there were no children on the island, but for the past year and a half the presence of Floga, the doctor, and her family has brought joy and life to the small place. Giorgos, who was born and spent the first years of his life here, has returned to Antikythira and is the president of the community. He tries to meet the island’s needs with everyone’s assistance and contribution. Angeliki, when she was young, had a dream to leave the island. But she fell in love with Antonis, the priest, who is now retired, and she stayed here, which she never regretted. Aris is an archaeologist who knows every inch of the island. He comes back every chance he gets to his favorite place that he has been exploring for many years, where he is by now considered a local. A trip to Antikythira is more than just a trip to a destination. It is a journey back in time, to a past, authentic island way of life.
