"Balkan Express" is a series in its second decade of presence in the ERT3 television program. It is an ongoing trip to the Balkans that seeks to reconnect the Greek audience with an area of our geography that is important for our history, culture, economy, and future. The Balkans are the bible of European culture, a laboratory for the production of history, a geostrategic crossroads, and a place of development of Greek extroversion. "Balkan Express" makes an acquaintance with a neighborhood that we are called to coexist in, in a European context, and to manage vital issues together. It is an exciting experience in a part of an unexplored Europe with unique natural diversity, gastronomy, music, and folk culture, but also with modern life and innovative spirit, having a lot to offer in today’s world.

On this episode, the Balkans Express takes you on a journey to the geographical heart of Serbia. The city of Čačak, which has a history dating back to Roman times and is a “capital” of basketball in Serbia. Here, at Cafe Zoc, which is also a club of Željko Obradović’ friends, we will meet the man himself, a former basketball player and current coach, who is a native of the city. In Čačak we are also introduced to Street Art and learn about Nadezda Petrović, the first Serbian painter, photographer and volunteer. Next, we go to the steam baths of Atomska Banja and then to the village of Prislanica, where the Flute Festival of Serbia takes place. Our next stop is the magnificent Ovčar-Kablar gorge, with its artificial lake Međuvršje, a place of natural beauty, recreation, and biodiversity. There are Orthodox monasteries in the area, which form the so-called Serbian "Mount Athos". Our last stop is Guca, where the famous Trumpet Festival takes place every year; this is the biggest "ethnic" festival of the Balkans. Here we will also visit Lapidarium, where we will learn about the mysterious Krajputasi, which are characteristic monuments of the Serbian countryside.
