The series documents in a moving way the difficulties faced by thousands of refugees from the moment they settled in their new homeland. It presents the conditions of life in their new homeland, the difficult living conditions, their integration into local communities, how their lives changed, and how they went from being pointed at with disdain, to becoming prominent members of the societies where they began to create their new lives. The series presents a travelogue to the geographical areas of northern Greece where most of the refugee populations settled: Orestiada, Alexandroupoli, Komotini, Xanthi, Kavala, Drama, Serres, Kilkis, Thessaloniki, Giannitsa, Florina, Ptolemaida, Katerini, Kastoria, Kozani, and Volos. In all these areas, history is recorded through testimonies, unpublished photographs, and evidence.

Kavala, which has always been a multicultural city inhabited by various nationalities, has welcomed a large number of refugees (about 30,000) from various regions.
The great economic and commercial activity associated with the processing and trade of tobacco has rightly labeled it as the "Mecca of Tobacco". This was one of the reasons why many refugees chose to settle here.
However, difficult conditions have forced many refugees to leave for other places. Others have taken root, lived here, and led successful lives.
Today, memories marked in documents kept in associations and museums tell this story.
