The story unfolds during the period of the German occupation in the difficult and turbulent years that indelibly sealed the lives of an entire generation. The main characters, a bourgeois couple, Dimitri and Dora Kalligeri and the radical changes in their lives and the people around them. Directed by Manousos Manousakis

April 1941. The war in Albania is coming to an end. However, despite the victories of the Greeks, the notion of war is not gone. Professor Dimitris Kalligeris and his wife Ntora, a wealthy bourgeois couple living a lonely life, are confronted with a situation that leads them to a critical point and causes them to reconsider their life so far.
Maria Zorba was widowed early on in her life. She worked hard to raise her three sons. Her second son, Ilias, a university student, is a soldier in Albania. While waiting for him to come home on leave, as he wrote from the battlefront, she is informed by Manolis, one of his comrades-in-arms, that he was killed. The event also shocks Dimitris, since Ilias was one of his favorite students.
As expected, the Germans invade Athens. Everyone's life changes. Mitsos, Maria's other son, influenced by Elli, who along with Manolis and Ilias are members of an organization which acts against the Metaxas dictatorship, takes his brother's place in the organization, which is now beginning the resistance against the German conquerors. But Dimitri's perspective also begins to change. He worries about everything, but especially about the way he handled his marriage with Ntora.
