"Islands on the Edge" is a documentary series that portrays the life of a few inhabitants on small outlying islands.

Through a cinematic view, the experiences of the people, their stories, the past, the present and the future of these remote places are captured. Each episode is a journey, a collection of images, faces and moments of everyday life. An attempt to understand a different world, a small isolated land surrounded by sea.

Between Naxos and Amorgos, there is a small island that lives in a bygone era. We meet some unique and rare people there. Captain Prasinos, with his boat, which transports visitors between Pano and Kato Koufonisi. Venetsanos, with its famous tavern and the field by the sea, welcomes and hosts those who love nature. Mr. Michalis, with his boat, sails daily from Ano Koufonisi, to take care of his animals and revive his childhood memories. Two Norwegians live their dream here, six months a year, escaping from icy Oslo. All of them, and so many others, are in a place where nature remains untouched by humans. On an island with emerald waters live close to three hundred people. Their number reaches 5,000 during summer. This island was chosen by Stella to make her home and she is passionate about the community. Today she has to prepare fish for the big festival that will take place at the end of May and at the same time she organizes a community blood donation that takes place every year on the island where everyone will be there to help in solidarity. Giannis has an estate with cows among luxurious villas. He refutes any proposals for sale. On the other side of the island is the shipyard where Michalis repairs all the wooden ships in the old traditional way. Down in the harbor, Captain Prasinos, who travels between the Ano Koufonisi and Kato Koufonisi, is currently working as a harbor pilot to help the cruise ship dock at the port. In the afternoon almost the whole island is in the harbor. They are all waiting. Fireworks light up the daytime sky. The doctors of the Aegean are arriving. Their arrival makes this day special for locals in this calm season.
